A device that was once dismissed as only for a niche market has grown on consumers and with the latest release, the Galaxy Note 5, Samsung improves on features favoured by users, including the S-Pen stylus.
In this video clip, Ken Price, Samsung Canada's vice-president carrier sales and marketing walks through the features of the new Note 5, Samsung's fifth generation phablet.
In the newest Note, when you pull out the stylus, the screen automatically pops up its stylus functions.
Samsung has also come up with a new $99 keyboard case that clips over the Note 5, transforming giving it a physical keyboard.
The Note 5 has the same 5.7-inch quad HD super AMOLED screen of the Edge+ but unlike the Edge+, the screen doesn't wrap around the edges. You may intereseted on: cheap samsung galaxy s5 cases and cheap samsung galaxy note 3 cases
Samsung found success, after changing its style. And we all agree that the shinny plastic back or with faux leather effect wasn't really luxurious and a major change was necessary. 2015 was the year when rivers of money started flowing and making their way to Samsung's pockets and honestly, we consider the Galaxy S6 the best looking phone ever created by the South Korean Company. Its design was so appreciated that Samsung continued to make many phones which look the same. And the Note 5 is really the copy of the Galaxy S6, but it has a larger body and a stylus. Let's take a look at both devices' specs.
Designs and Displays
As we were saying, they look almost identical, featuring a glass and metal design, but the Note 5 has in addition a stylus, which is used to take notes/draw directly to the screen. The Galaxy S6 measures 143.4 x 70.5 x 6.8 mm and it's fitted with a 5.1-inches screen supporting a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels with 577 ppi, while the Galaxy Note 5 is much larger, measuring 153.2 x 76.1 x 7.6 mm, so the screen is sized at 5.7-inch and supports a lower pixel density of 518 ppi. It's worth mentioning that Samsung has its own screen technology called AMOLED, which pairs the active matrix backplane from a TFT screen with an OLED screen. The result: the switching response time is faster and the colors are more vibrant. Below the screen you'll find a home button which hides a fingerprint scanner.
Both the Note 5 and the Edge Plus have 4GB memory, upping performance. Both also have 3000 mAh batteries that will fully charge in 90 minutes plugged in, with wireless charging taking two hours.
Samsung has also extended SideSync, for wireless and wired PC and smartphone syncing, to work with Apple's operating system.
Pricing varies by carrier, but the Note 5 is typically around in the mid-tohigh $300 range with a contract and $850-plus with no contract.
Both the Galaxy S6 and the Note 5 are fitted with a 16MP rear camera (Sony or Samsung sensor in the Galaxy S6, while the Note 5 has a Samsung ISOCELL sensor) which is coupled with OIS, LED flash and an f/1.9 aperture. The front camera is 5MP on both phones and has wide-angle and an f/1.9 aperture.
